Karen Blackwell is the Manager for Supplier Diversity and Development for Nestlé and responsible for this initiative in North America by focusing on minority, women, and veteran owned and other small businesses owners accessing procurement opportunities within Nestlé USA, Nestlé Purina Pet Care, Nestlé Waters Company, Nestlé Professional, Nestlé Health Sciences and Nestlé Nutrition because increasing the volume of business done with diverse companies is consistent with strategic sourcing, innovation and competition.
Nestlé’s award winning program effectively uses innovation to connect stakeholders and strategic partners with strong diverse suppliersby providing up-to date information about sourcing strategies and engaging buyers and suppliers in purposeful networking and development activities.
Before joining Nestlé, Karen was an Assistant Deputy Mayor of Economic Development, and led the Small Business/Job Training programs for the multi-billion dollar Alameda Corridor Construction Project. She’s owned her own M/WBE certified business, and was a City Planner for Los Angeles resulting in her unique view of entrepreneurial success in today’s economy.
Originally from Philadelphia PA., Karen has a B.S. from Beloit College in Wisconsin, a Masters from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a CORO graduate who is married with adult children and 2 lovely granddaughters.
