Shannon Schuyler is a Principal with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and widely recognized in her field as a dynamic change agent. Shannon serves as a managing editor of Huffington Post’s What’s Working initiative and in 2016, Fast Company included her on its list of the Most Creative People in Business. Shannon is the firm’s Chief Purpose Officer, oversees Responsible Business Leadership and serves as the President of the PwC Charitable Foundation.
A strong voice in the global business community, Shannon is responsible for infusing PwC’s purpose, to build trust in society and solve important problems, into PwC’s core business strategy by elevating the conversation on building trust, collaboration and acting with intention and meaning in every practice, service offering and engagement.
One of the many ways Purpose comes to life at PwC is through our commitment to Responsible Business Leadership, which Shannon leads. Through Responsible Business Leadership, PwC is investing its skills and resources, and working with like-minded clients, to help address inequality and the growing opportunity gap — critical issues that impact us all. The opportunity gap globally — those systemic disadvantages that hold people from certain communities back — has never been bigger, and it continues to grow. Shannon’s leadership is instrumental to PwC’s commitment to help close this gap.
Along with US Chairman Tim Ryan, she leads CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, the largest-ever CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In this role, she drives the strategy for engaging more than 500 companies and universities in advancing D&I in the workplace.
This work extends to the next generation through Access Your PotentialⓇ, PwC’s $320M commitment to commitment to teach underserved students the tech and money skills they need to change the trajectory of their lives. By 2021, Access Your Potential will reach 10 million students with access to curriculum, train 100,000 teachers and guidance counselors, and mentor 10,000 students.
As President, Shannon guides the PwC Charitable Foundation in its approach to taking on inequality, through its commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion and supporting underserved groups in the areas within the Foundation’s mission: closing the middle-skills gap, career services for transitioning veterans and access to financial and technology skills.
With a longstanding commitment to civic and community engagement, she is a board member of numerous charitable organizations, including The HistoryMakers Foundation; the National Environmental Education Foundation; and Leadership Greater Chicago; Leadership Greater Chicago, Lincoln Park Zoo Board; and Harris Theater.
The Executives’ Club of Chicago honored Shannon as its 2016 Corporate Citizen of the Year; Foreign Policy distinguished her as a 2015 Leading Global Thinker; Leadership Greater Chicago named her its 2015 “Distinguished Fellow”; Chicago Business Journal named her a 2015 “Women of Influence”; Womenetics named her a POW! “Women of the Year” recipient; PR News named her “2013 CSR Professional of the Year;” and the Stevie Awards for Women in Business honored her as a “Female Executive of the Year.”
