Thomas Phelps IV is the Vice President of Corporate Strategy & CIO for Laserfiche, a global software company headquartered in California. Laserfiche provides award-winning solutions for document management, business process automation and case management with e-forms, digital signatures, workflow automation, mobile apps and content analytics.
At Laserfiche, Thomas is currently responsible for corporate strategy, vertical marketing, analyst relations, corporate training and enterprise IT governance. He was part of the executive team that launched Laserfiche Cloud in 2015, which provides organizations with an innovative cloud platform that enables a digital, collaborative business.
Previously, Thomas was the national entertainment and media champion for cybersecurity at PwC. He led C-level relationships with clients and served as the Advisory Services leader for two Fortune 500 companies. Thomas led the initiative to update content security practices for the motion picture industry, which is used worldwide by studios and post-production houses to protect pre-release content. He also developed the PwC methodologies and marketing collateral for the Telecom and Network Services practice.
Prior to PwC, Thomas was part of two new business initiatives at Motorola. He was part of the start-up team that launched the Internet Software Products Division in Austin, TX, and worked on the “away team” for MOS-12, a new $1.5B wafer fabrication facility in Chandler, AZ. Thomas was also a news correspondent and photographer for an Iowa newspaper.
Thomas has co-authored and contributed to five books, including Telecommunications Cost Management published by CRC Press. He has written for numerous publications, including CBS Pulse, CIO Review, Philanthropy Journal and others. Along with speaking at the Harvard IT Summit and instructing the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) Review Course, Thomas guest lectures at USC and CSU-Long Beach on security, data analytics and marketing.
Thomas is on the Executive Board for UCLA IS Associates, a membership-based executive IT organization sponsored by UCLA. He serves as a board member and immediate past-president of Ascend Los Angeles, a Pan-Asian leadership organization. He is also on the Board of Directors for ISACA Los Angeles, having previously served on the ISACA International Membership Board. Thomas earned his BBA in Management Information Systems from University of Texas at Austin.
